In an interview with Xbox Achievements, Assassin’s Creed Origins’ game director Ashraf Ismail said that the game isn’t ‘reinventing’ a lot of concepts, but will hopefully bring those concepts together to create a unique feeling experience.
‘We’re not reinventing quests, we’re not reinventing some of the concepts that we have, but the way they’re built, the way they feel, the way they come together, should give a unique experience,’ he said.
Assassin’s Creed Origins took an extra year of development over the usual annual release cycle for the Ubisoft flagship series, and it’s come out looking like a very different beast to the regular AC game as a result. But, as has been identified, it seems to be taking inspiration from a lot of different games like The Witcher 3, Destiny, and even other Ubi games like Far Cry.
‘Our ultimate goal is for players to say, okay, it kind of maybe looks like AC and feels like an authentic AC game, but somehow the experience is unique and different, and I’ve never played it before,’ explained Ismail. ‘That’s our aim.’
